Christmas in July

This week at Cooking with Cricut our challenge was to create a Christmas in July project using paper or cardstock from our scraps pile.

It's really HARD to think of Christmas when it has been in the 100's here in Kansas City!

For this challenge I pulled out some "Christmas" colors from my
scraps pile (that is overflowing)

and created a matching card and tag set using a cartridge
that I haven't used in a while, Joys of the Season.

It's hard to photograph, but the white wrapper has a glimmery sheen to it.

with an eyelet and some twine added to the tag, it's ready to use!

Now it's your turn.....head on over to Cooking with Cricut and show us what you create by linking up your Christmas in July project using cardstock or paper from your scraps pile.

Thanks for stopping by!

Buttons & Brads...Oh My!

This week at Cooking with Cricut our design team was challenged to create inspiration using "Buttons and Brads".

For this challenge I created a couple of layouts.

I don't know about you, but I need to use up some of my stash alphabet stickers...I mean..I do have a CRICUT now and can create any title I want to.  :o)  I decided to use some of my "stash stickers" and create a matching # using my Cricut and the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.

I even "speckled" the #7 to look like the alphabet cardstock stickers.

Oh - and this is a "Buttons and Brads" challenge so here's my brads.....lots of them!  :o)

For my second layout I brought out the cartridges!  5 of them to be exact!

#1 Dad was created using the Celebrate with a Flourish cartridge.
The "Fun - Fun - Fun" title was created using
A Child's Year, Jasmine and Create-a-Critter cartridges.

The buttons add a splash of color.  The star on the caleldar page is a brad too!

The camera was on the Summer Vacation cartridge.
It's hard to see, but the lens is actually a peice of transparency.  :o)

Let me see what you create, come join in on the fun at CWC and link your project to our "Buttons and Brads" challenge.

Cards...Cards....and Cards!

Hi there -- this week at Cooking With Cricut!  Our Design Team challenge was to create birthday cards and decorations for children and teens staying in a homeless shelter.

CWC Design Team member Madison Womack is the creator/founder of the "I Feel the Love" Project and is dedicated to bringing a little bit of handcrafted love to people in need.  This month's outreach is for Sheffield Place in Kansas City.  Sheffield Place opened its doors in February 1991 as a community response to the growing population of homeless mothers and their children in the Kansas City area. Since then, they have assisted more than 560 families in making the difficult journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency.  The volunteers throw a birthday party once a month for the children and teens living in the shelter and are in need of decorations that can be reused and birthday cards.

Being from the KC area, this project is close to home!!

For this challenge I made a few cards that will hopefully brighten someone's day...

Fishing you a Happy Birthday!
Made w/ the Create a Critter cartridge.

The following cards were made using the Imagine More Cards cartridge.

Now it's your turn - I would love to see what cards and decortions you create for this great challenge that is so meaningful and can brighten someone's day!  Please join us at CWC and link your project.
